Welcome to Portals Projects! Each week we share projects that foster community building, creative thinking, problem-solving and character development. Invite your student(s) to pick a project that interests them to work on for a day or a week. Encourage them to share their plans, products or performances with the Portals community so we can all celebrate and grow together.

Look up the prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus’s birth.

Bake
Make some Nativity themed food art.
Learn the legend of the candy cane and make some candy cane art.
Guess the Christmas treat from another part of the world and make one.
Experiment
Use some object lessons to tell the Christmas story.
Make some Christmas Decorations using Borax, filter Paper, gelatin, or nature.
Music
Pick a favorite Christmas song and learn about its history.
Guess the Christmas song.
Active
Dance along to some Christmas Carols.
Interview
Ask your grandparents and/or the elderly folks at church what their favorite Christmas memories are from when they were your age.
Talk with your parents and teachers about how Christmas relates to the Gospel.
Maps
Make a map of the best Christmas displays in your community.
Find out the chance there will be snow on Christmas where you live.
Charts and Graphs
Create a Christmas survey and invite your friends and family to take it over the holidays. Make a chart illustrating the results.
Participate in Citizen Science this Christmas by counting birds with the Audubon.
Play
Try a new Christmas game with your family and friends.
Test your Christmas story knowledge with some Bible trivia.
Write
Make some Christmas cards for some folks who might not get a lot.
Compose your own Christmas song or Mad lib.
Write a fictional short story or personal narrative about Christmas.
Create
Make shadow puppets and perform a shadow play of the Nativity story.
Field Trip
Attend a Christmas concert or performance.
