Welcome to Portals Projects! Each week we share projects that foster community building, creative thinking, problem-solving and character development. Invite your student(s) to pick a project that interests them to work on for a day or a week. Encourage them to share their plans, products or performances with the Portals community so we can all celebrate and grow together.
Week 7 - Purity
1 Cor. 6 -Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, who you received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
How are you maintaining your temple? Are your habits God-honoring? Eating? Exercising? Sleeping? Hygiene? Friendships? Pick one area that could use some maintenance and design a game that your friends and family can play regularly to develop better habits. Examples: Super Snackland (Healthy food - Candyland), Core Four (Hygiene - Connect Four), Encourage Who (Friendships - Guess Who), Memorize Exercise (Physical activity - Memory).
Pure Peer Pressure
Talk to your parents about peer pressure and any not God-honoring activities that you might be pressured to do. Come up with an action you can do if and when pressured and invent a catchy phrase to remind yourself and others to overcome temptation and stay pure. If there is an addiction recovery group at your church or in your community, consider making cards to encourage them.
Is It Pure? (Mini Chemistry)
Challenge: Using the materials listed below, discover the best test for determining whether a substance is pure or not.
Materials: Sauce pan / pot, stove, purified water, two other forms of water (like tap or flavored) each labeled.
Extension: How can you tell if the 100% Fruit Juice is pure juice or just marketing?
How can you tell if honey is pure or not?
Something popped up while I was watching a video that I don’t think was honoring to God. What should I do?
